From Bare Metal Works
Hello, It's a fact that the only thing you can count on in the business world is that
things will change.  To meet that change, BMWi has made some recent
additions to our staff and our capabilities.  Part of this is in anticipation of future
directions in the process industry.  We are seeing more and more food
processors expressing an interest in flash pastuerization and aseptic systems.
We've also expanded our capabilities to meet more of the needs of our client.
Read through this newsletter.  It won't take you long.  Then call us.  We'd love to
talk to you about what's new at BMWi.

Sincerely,
Sher Gustafson
Bare Metal Works, Inc.

John Claunch Joins Bare Metal Works
John Claunch, a veteran of the process welding industry, has joined Bare Metal
Works as vice president. In his new position Claunch will be responsible for
visiting new and existing clients and coordinating projects.
Claunch got his start in stainless steel welding in 1998 as one of the first
employees of BMW.  He eventually started his own firm, JC Fabrication, and
went on to specialize in welding related to the aseptic process, flash
pasteurization, and HTST processing--high temperature, short time.  Claunch
works closely with several European manufacturers of machinery for aseptic
processes.  He has installed and worked on numerous systems.
"John Claunch will be a genuine asset to BMW," said Sher Gustafson, president
of the firm.  "His diverse knowledge of process welding, and his experience with
aseptic systems rounds out the depth of capabilities we have."
In addition to aseptic process welding, Claunch also has experience in welding
related to conventional food processing, blow-mold facilities, high-pressure
steam systems, glycol, chillers and cooling towers.

Process System Maintenance Tips:
Regular Servicing of Valves
by John Claunch, BMW Vice President
There is a way you can avoid making unnecessary expenditures and incurring
costly downtime.  Make sure the automated valves that control the flow of
product in your processing system receive regular maintenance.
Too many plant personnel are under the impression that once these valves are
installed they are maintenance free. Not so.  These valves use rubber O-rings.
Over time these O-rings will wear out. In the case of a multi-directional valve,
product will be able to get into areas where it should not.  Or the product gets
past the O-rings into the head of the valve, creating a bacteria trap.
On a regular basis--at least quarterly--pull the valve head off and disassemble
the valves. Replace the O-rings. They are an inexpensive component and often
times there is wear which is not readily visible. Also check the valve seat for
wear or pitting.   CIP solutions and other caustic liquids cause deterioration of
even these hard-metal surfaces.
The key too a smoothly operating system for processing food, cosmetics,
pharmaceuticals and other products is regular maintenance.  So make valve
inspection a regular part of your maintenance procedure.

BMW Ads Expertise and New Division
Mike Gast, a general contractor, has joined Bare Metal Works as a project
manager.  As a former partner at Cal West Construction & Development, Gast
has often used BMW for welding projects.  He is looking forward to working with
the firm now as a partner.
"The real potential Mike Gast brings to BMW," said President Sher Gustafson, "is
his experience as a general contractor.  Mike has worked on projects for Disney,
7-11 and a host of other companies.  Combined with the other experience here,
Bare Metal Works now has the capability to take a process piping project from
design to completion, as well as any other type of building project our clients
might be envisioning."
Mike Gast oversees project development, installation of infrastructure and the
overall execution of the project.  "After working with Bare Metal Works on several
projects I realized there was an opportunity here to grow in a different direction,"
said Gast.  "This company does exciting work with exciting clients.  Their breadth
of knowledge is vast.  We are going to do great things for clients.
